It is bizarre how life seems to set its own path for us, regardless of whether or not we want to pursue those paths. Growing up, I had envisioned my life at certain times to be certain ways. For example, we started out as kids dreaming about our futures: being a singer, doctor, an actress, traveling the world, etc. It’s great to pursue your dreams for this is what fuels the drive and motivation to move forward in life, but you must be careful not lose yourself along the way. We must not waste too much energy on trying to make things the way we want them to be when we should just live in the moment. You will only wake up one day thinking to yourself, “where did all this time go?”
As humans we have this need to control or manipulate things to work out the way we want them to when really we shouldn’t. I had wanted to make my parents proud by proving that I was worthy enough of their respect, especially from my dad. I learned the hard way that you have got to love yourself before you can truly love what you do, and who you choose to love you are with them. Because at the end of the day, if I’m not happy with myself; then I will never be able to make others happy. I am so grateful for everything I have now. But it was the challenge of my past that has led me to where I am today: with a career in singing and dejaying. But I also realize that I am very fortunate to have the support of my husband, family, friends, and fans.
